We undertake full surveys of existing plasterwork and sensitive interiors of historical buildings

We conduct full fibrous and lime plaster surveys for owners of historical properties and public buildings. Bringing together industry experts and timber specialists where needed, we can produce a full report that assesses the condition of plasterwork before starting any restoration programme.

Why have an expert plasterwork survey?

A fibrous and lime plaster survey assesses all types and techniques of plaster decoration on walls, ceilings and other areas, establishing the condition of existing plasterwork and compiling a detailed report. From there, we can provide safety certification and work up a schedule for remedial works if they are required.

We use highly trained experts to ascertain the condition of existing plasterwork

For each of our on-site surveys, a knowledgable plaster specialist works with a structural engineer and a timber treatment expert to establish the condition of your existing plasterwork. The team will assess the condition of everything to reveal insect and fungal attack, rotten timbers and insecure fixings to structural integrity and unsympathetic repairs or alterations.

Examining the fabric of the plasterwork

Our plasterwork inspections are extremely in-depth. We examine plaster from above and below, often using an endoscope camera to view inside the construction and identify defects. Where necessary, we completely remove sections of plaster to examine more closely in our workshop.

What the report contains

Our report will identify any areas of distress and will include detailed plans, sketches and an itemised repair schedule if necessary. If at this stage we deem the ceiling is safe, we will issue a safety certificate along with any other licence requirements.
