When master craftsman Andrew Barry founded Fine Art Mouldings in 1989 to craft high-quality classic and contemporary decorative plaster products, he didn’t realise that his son Samuel would join him as our passionate and driven Managing Director. Our employees are part of the family too. Most of our employees have worked with us for 20 years or more, and many even went to school together; they have grown up, got married and had children of their own, and recruited more friends into the fold. It’s the way we like it, and makes our business more than just a workplace.

We have huge respect for the past, but are very much rooted in today – and tomorrow. Our plasterwork portfolio covers many different plaster styles and eras, reaching back to restoring elaborate Tudor plasterwork, recreating elegant Georgian plaster swagging and high Victorian coving through to designing contemporary plaster mouldings for a palace in the Middle East. Here’s a look at one of the hand-set triglyphs we’re installing on this project – a key element of classical architecture, rooted in the Doric order.
Each triglyph was individually set out by hand around the perimeter of the room, including along a radius to ensure all mitres align perfectly. It’s a meticulous process that requires skill, patience, and an understanding of proportion and symmetry.
On a current project, we have had the privilege of helping to restore the building’s original ceiling, bringing back a key architectural feature that had been hidden and altered over time.
Working closely with the lighting and air conditioning teams, we carefully adjusted the layout to integrate modern systems while respecting the building’s character. A seamless blend of old and new that honours the past and incorporates technology of today.
